HAPPY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

technically this blog started june 13th but i bought and paid for the domain on june 12th. i know this exact date because they are asking me for money again. and i love it, a whole year has passed, not that much has happened but i legitimately became a happier person, even though i have no real job, and no prospects on anything. How’d that happen I wonder?

i’ve had, maybe one person ask me what seventh8th means.

It’s related to the fact that the mascot for the website is a daruma! (the doll above that has the note stuck on his nose)

So i forgot how I first found out about this, but I received this particular daruma doll from my boss when I was working in Japan. It basically is a toy that never falls, if you try to roll it around it’ll eventually land back on its feet.

I’ll paste this bit from the Wikipedia page…

This characteristic has come to symbolize the ability to have success, overcome adversity, and recover from misfortune. Due to this, Daruma is often illustrated alongside the phrase “Nanakorobi Yaoki”, translated to mean seven times down, Eight times up.

So that’s where the name came from….
