The Book Job
6 commentsso i’m watching the Simpsons again apparently
there was a small period of time that i laid it off from my TV calendar, there were too many things going on and i didn’t have time for my favorite five yellow people…but i feel like the quality has picked up since then.
also Neil Gaiman guest stars in this episode!
So it’s an episode of The simpons with a subject close to my heart, books! nope, book writing? nope…GETTING YOUR BOOK PUBLISHED
so many beautiful references in this episode that i weep, i weep tears for my unpublished novel…(which is getting a complete rewrite, 2500 words in so far)
this episode was produced by Matt Selman as well

check it,a small reference for The Magicians and The Magician King fans! Matt Selman is friends with Lev Grossman because they use to write on a Time blog (which is non-existent now) called Nerd World. I know this because i’m a creep…

GAH SO AWESOME…
similarly, this was what kept me reading 1Q84…its about a girl who couldn’t write but became a best seller due to a ghost writer….dammit these things are no good but i almost wished that it happened to me. Does that mean i’m starved for fame? Not exactly, but some recognition from this ‘world’ would be nice. it doesn’t need to be a best seller, it could be a job, any job…
The Food Wife

I follow Matt Selman, the producer of the Simpsons, as well as Anthony Bourdain, of the food/travel show, No Reservations as well as the best seller on twitter and a long long long time ago I knew he was going to be on an episode of The simpsons. And here we finally are…
90s cartoons
7 commentsI grew up with One Saturday Morning on ABC, do you remember it? They had great shows like, Pepper Ann, Recess, The Weekenders, Lloyd in Space, Fillmore, Doug etc etc
I still watch Saturday TV but mostly on my computer now because Disney just stopped making cartoons, instead we get horrible shows with no creativity, no real pop culture and “role models” that will eventually grow up and start making se x tapes.
recently I found a torrent of the entire 5 seasons of Pepper Ann. I’ve NEVER seen the ending to Pepper Ann till now. I wish I had never seen it.
I don’t know if you’ve seen the ending to pepper ann but it was about her growing up, and not caring about any of the things that they did when they were kids. Pepper Ann became a 20 something journalist and basically depressed about life, she goes to her middle school reunion and finds out that everyone has changed. I think the point of the episode was that we never really have to grow up and Pepper Ann had to be taught a lesson in it or something but anyways, depressing episode, not funny, not poignant, way to end a great show. It was pretty sad that the writers had to write an ending in which Pepper Ann grew up and became a member of society that did nothing exciting and complained about stuff, we’d all find out about it eventually, so back it up and dont put that kind of thing in kid’s cartoons. but anyways…
i’m really sad that they don’t make as many good cartoons like before…
sigh
but anyways, the internet will always be here.
There are still ways to cheat Youtube
The Weekenders: Season 1 + 2 , season 3, season 4
Fillmore: incomplete though I think
Lloyd in Space
it’s not super hard to search for videos on youtube but sometimes they do get taken down, i hope they’ll leave the weekenders up at least, but it’s disney, and it’s kinda evil.

Project Runway Korea Season 2
3 commentsThere are so many things that I want to write about, and this entry is going to take 2 hours to complete because i’ll have to look for accompany media and graphics. But it’ll be worth it.
But first of all, be grateful that WITHS2 has subbed the entire season and you didn’t have to wait like I did and get lost because I wasn’t sure what episode I was on… SO, here are the SUBS and here are the RAWS (you have to register for this forum but it’s easy)
Reasons why I prefer the Korean version over the US version (i’ve always heard excellent things about the Australia version as well) …
I like the judges in the Korean version, everyone is nice and respectful, I’m thinking that the American judges are bored and are starting to run out of things to say, I mean, Michael Kors is seriously a grade A asshole, if you don’t know what I mean, you can watch Season7, Episode 10.
Thinking back on that episode gave me bad feelings, and all the good things that I wanted to write about season 2 of Korean version has dissipated a little bit, but thats ok, i’ll soldier on.
I have this very romanticized vision of what a fashion designer should be like, and the finalists for this season all had that quality and it made me so happy when I was watching them work. In my completely imagined scenarios, I want my designers to be shy, soft-spoken, emotional, lost, confused, and very much in their own world. I really dislike gaudy people, yes that means I dislike myself, and I really work hard to be a quiet, soft-spoken person in real life, it doesn’t work that well but I try really hard.
All three finalists (3 ? because they are all amazing and epic) were soft spoken, slightly shy, and all had this princely / princessly aura that it felt like they were all floating. I loved the fact that every single one of them encouraged each other on. When they first saw each other’s final collections, they literally all exclaimed how boring their own is, so cute dammit, modesty, how impressive it could be.
Their collections were, in my opinion, incomplete, but more adventurous and courageous than some of the American designers. There were so many looks that I saw that I fell instantly in love with.
Ah I cried so much near the end, even though I haven’t watched this in so long, I couldn’t marathon it, I only watch it when I remember about it because the subs come out very slowly (but I’m still very appreciative!) and I am really looking forward to season 3.
So the reasons that I cried so much, ah how embarrassing, is that for one thing, the designers kept crying. And I cried with them, but also because they talked about how they finally see their hard work come to fruition, this excitement but trembling fear. And I was thinking about how, I’ve never ever felt that before. I have never worked so hard that I think that it’s the best that I can do, I’ve never put my all in anything and that’s incredibly disappointing to me, so I guess I am saying that they gave me a lot of inspiration.
One of the guest judges said this to one of the designers during the final judging:
“I think you need to break from the pressures of being too creative.”
A light bulb went off in my head when she said that. YES! New people in the creative realm, whatever it may be, always tries too hard, they are always attempting the next new thing, or too afraid of what people will think of them and end up not being courageous enough, it’s extremely hard to find a good balance of being yourself in that you express what you want without it feeling like it was too much of what you can be, because I think a lot of people have a hard time finding that balance, myself especially.
okay, i think I said all that I wanted to say…
I had originally wanted to show u my favorite looks from each collection but I can’t find corresponding english sites with images so.. instead I’ve provided embeds of all three final collections after the cut, ummm if you’re planning to watch the show then don’t watch it, but what can I say? The first one was my favorite, especially the first look, gah want to wear it now.
edit: I don’t think anyone is subbing season 3 …NOOOOOOO!
