done and done!

my application for journalism school? yeah that’s done
this is done tooo!

now for some of the innards

here are some tips that i have accumulated…

1) buy the tool thingy, it’s like $3, it is very useful
2) do not poke overly large holes, it wrecks part of the fabric but its usually ok
3) measure, measure, measure, this i didn’t do so much of
4) do the bottom first then work your way up, also, do the back of the shoe before you do the front, so basically most inner corner to the top
5) if it looks like you wrecked a pair of converse, it’s ok, just keep going, the fabric scrunches up because you added all those studs onto it

yeah it looks kinda scary on the inside huh? do i bleed while i walk? no, you just gota use some force and push the sides all the way into the stud so that when you run your finger over it, it doesn’t prick or will cause pain as you walk…

i didn’t do the inside because im tired….

but i might or i might not because it’s easier to walk this way.. also will wear a lot before i add anything just because the fabric is so stiff right now

if you are googling how to do this and came about this post feel free to ask me questions because i couldnt’ find any good blog entries that showed people how to do this.

mandatory new converse post

i will update! when i put the studs in! i think it is going to be a process rather than i will do it all at once, like a giant tattoo!

and it stresses me out because in some sense it is beyond my control

as everyone must have had at some point in their teenage to young adult life, a rather rebellious fascination with punk music and the sex pistols.

anyways, though that doesn’t really have anything to do with that, and the emergence of studs as a trend (gah) made me really really really really want studded converse. i wear converse a lot, and i want studded converse! if you do a quick google, you’ll realize that no one sells them and the ones that are being sold suck. most people end up diy-ing theirs but for some reason people are incapable of taking pictures larger than 250px.

this korean website sells them for about $125..but how to order from elusive overseas website? Also i don’t like how dense the studs are. they are wayyy too close to each other

so i ordered some studs and am going to take on the challenge of diy-ing some black converse that i have yet to buy. i know that i shouldnt do it on brand new converse so i’ll probably wear them in so that the canvas will be softer.

it’s actually really easy to do and having that little prickly tool really helps it.
i’ve attached 3 studs each on the back of my super old brown converse, i love it. i can’t wait to get some black high top ones! :D

new converse!

this is perhaps the most pointless blog post ever but i also don’t care….

i’ve been thinking that i need a pair of classic chucks, the most classic. I was really caught between black vs white high tops. Black has its obvious advantages like not getting dirty as fast but white is just..so..awesome.

so i got white.

this is also the first pair of high chucks that i own. i have one other pair but it has a different..feel to it i guess.

im proud of myself because i thought hard and a lot about which pair would be better, the whole not buying so much crap thing. i also think i should throw away some of my really old chucks but i dont think i can do without them.

this is honestly my last pair for a long while. i am trying to get all the ‘classics’ of one’s wardrobe together and figure out the rest later. if you look at my credit card bill it’s all food now! :D so it’s a very small bill, i am really good at not buying things recently. i got some black and white v necks recently but it’s only because i can’t live without plain tshirts…

The perfect Boots

i’ve been looking for a good pair of black ankle boots with a very short heel for a long time now, haven’t found anything…remotely close to what i’m looking for, i’m willing to drop big bucks, but perhaps not this many big bucks.

i think i’m rediscovering the joy of not buying things, i have a lot of clothes, a LOT of clothes, some of which don’t ever see the light of day while others get worn to bits. So instead of having a lot of clothes in the future, ones that i buy on impulse, i think i might just slowly get rid of pieces and use the savings towards high quality designer goods, that might mean i can only buy one or two really good pieces a year but that’s fine.

Blazer High

I fell in love with this picture, so I had to wear my own blazerssss todayyy :D

I think the ones they are wearing are the ‘vintage’ ones (but remade for the new generation?) that nike use to produce for college basketball teams, but i could also be completely wrong, but i also might be right because of the colors or maybe i’m wrong because nike just wanted to use primary colors..

i got these for 50% off :D :D still a bit much to pay for canvas sneakers in my opinion since i get everything for like $12 lol… (my converse, SOME of my converse, others i paid much more, much much more =_=) I saw these online a long time ago and the girl that had these had them in navy with white laces. When I unexpectedly went to adidas the past weekend, I was really REALLY surprised to find these…

as apparently they were sold out everywhere in hong kong..

there was red and adidas blue leather ones but none in my size so i picked these up instead. i dont think i’ll be using the white laces because it’s not a good symbol, and life is all about symbols.. (reading too much milan kundera lately)

these pants are pajamas from Old navy that I got for like $8, but I tie a knot because they are too wide and too long, they look like drop pants by Comme des garcons! (poor girl’s avant garde..)

Defacing public property

currently in nanjing (南京 ) in my familys newly renovated and smells like paint and new furniture apartment, in which im pretty heavily allergic to, but it’s getting better i think….

i just came from beijing last night and was in hong kong the night before. i have a lot of pictures to post! but alas i dont know where to start….

so here are some random and exciting (not to mention extremely recently) pictures.

didnt get a chance to deface too many public properties, but this was on the airport express from beijing international airport… will probably be ripped off the next day.

i wish i could debunk the impression that china is dirty, unfortunately it’s true, but it’s just mud, mud is good…. Beijing was pretty clean, and Hong Kong was crowded but not that dirty. But this is the state of my shoes after getting breakfast, since it poured like mad last night, there’s mud everywhere now. loook at my converseeeee….

probably the only large purchase i made in hong kong..

and yeah, of course, it’s me.

here are some things that have been keeping me sane….: Season 1 of Community on my ipod, my camera, my pop music playlist filled with Beyonce and Lady Gaga, coca-cola and this random Chinese channel that just loops Korean dramas all day long.

hopefully there will be a lot of new posts coming your way! hopefully..

p.s. it’s true, twitter doesnt work in china, NOR does VIMEO! Which i don’t understand, China definitely needs more good design
