Drive B
I was basically forced and threatened to watch this movie after I made someone watch all two seasons (only six episodes) of Sherlock BBC. whatever, that show was good for your body and mind. And i know, how can I only give this movie a B? To be completely blunt I thought the storyline was lacking, lacking so much. Yeah, it was beautifully shot and there were a ton of cool stuff in the film including Ryan Gosling. But I just didn’t get it or feel it. I can’t communicate with films that basically wedges itself into a corner and that was what I felt like the movie was all about. The colors are gorgeous, maybe it didn’t fully show up on my acer monitor but I GET the beauty part about it. But still, it was lacking for me. ( IMDB )
Warm Bodies B+
One night we were really bored and didn’t feel like watching Gangster Squad (Sean Penn Sean Penn!!!!) and ended up watching this teen flick. Firstly, I just want to put it on the record that the casting directors felt like it was important to cast a girl that basically looks like Kristen Stewart. The whole time I’m thinking, okay if Kristen Stewart had blonde hair and starred in a teenage zombie movie it would have been this. Best parts about this movie was Nicholas Hoult, and Rob Corddry. Apparently the storyline is based on Romeo and Juliet which makes a lot more sense now that I think about it. The film wasn’t really exceptional but it’s very entertaining and Nicholas Hoult is very adorable in it. Recommended if you’re bored and want something light hearted. ( IMDB )
To Rome with Love C
Bah Humbug and I was really looking forward to this. It has so many of my favorite movie elements, Jesse Eisenberg, beautiful foreign city and script by Woody Allen. I have so many good things to say about Midnight in Paris and almost nothing good to say about To Rome With Love. Everyone was awkward and it took two sleepy tries to finish the movie. Not recommended at all but for the saucy scenes with Penelope Cruz. ( IMDB )

HELTER SKELTER A-
I liked this movie a lot. I don’t care if it was badly rated but I liked it a lot. It’s visually stunning and shot by the same director that brought your Sakuran (another movie that will overwhelm your sense with color and lust). This is a big comeback for Erika Sawaijiri as she portrays the most famous model in Japan with perfect hair, face, and body. But unfortunately, all that is hers is fake and comes at a high price. Even with all that she has, Lilico (Erika) is unsatisfied with herself and is constantly unconfident, things take a turn for the worse as a newcomer steals the spot light from her, played by one of the cutest and most versatile Japanese models around, Kiko Mizuhara. But the movie is gorgeous and dramatic, the pacing is awkward sometimes but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Be warned there is a lot of explicit scenes and full frontal nudity, so don’t watch it with children? ( trailer )
GIRL B
A cute and light hearted but not at all memorable film. There are a lot of mini series and movies like this in Japan where they track the lives of four young women in different situations as they go through life and fight difficulties in the work place and at home. Not great but not bad, fun for a night in with nothing to do.

mmm, just getting around to Drive, eh? Haha, yeah I agree that the visuals and music and general ‘coolness’ of the film make it a captivating watch, but I think you make a good point about the storyline lacking. I didn’t mind it so much after first viewing, but I think it makes a difference upon watching it a second (or third, etc.) time.
aaan, Helter Skelter! I just accidentally ran into this movie two days ago and I was captivated. Some scenes are pretty unsettling but I thought it was a really really interesting topic and I think it was handled really well overall. Everything else, I haven’t seen. Need to watch more movies!
From all of these, I’ve only seen Drive and I got the same impression~
OMG! I really need to see Helter Skelter, the manga was so interesting.
