recently my mom ordered an “ibox” that allows you to watch Chinese TV shows and news channels directly from china via the internet…….(sans computer) and hence of course i’m enjoying it too.
we started watching this drama which is about this girl who is called into the forbidden city to be one of the emperor’s wives. the wives all each have command levels and if adored by the emperor than is treated better than the other wives. of course being adored comes with great consequences too, such as backstabbing and jealousy, if you become pregnant than the other wives will try to get you to lose the baby etc etc. it’s normally not the type of thing that i would enjoy but it’s beautifully shot and the costume is amazing. but of course what keeps any viewer is the storyline…
you’d think watching a show about how tens of women fight over one man who claims to be every one of their husband would be boring and anti feminist but it’s not…
yeah, damn good
also damn time consuming
i really would recommend this but i am sure that there are no subtitles available anywhere…it took me 5 episodes just to learn their names and rank and even now i have no idea 
…complicated chinese history is complicated…

Interesting. I’ve been watching Big Love, which is also anti-feminist. But it’s so obviously messed up it’s not really.

I wish i could find something like that to watch shows from Sweden over here withouth having to go on the computer to stream everything. I’m sure there probably is something but I’m just not aware of it~
