look at what noboru wataya dragged in

noboru wataya, the name of the cat in The wind up bird Chronicles I googled this, I did not know this off handed.

there’s this meme on tumblr that says when girls take a picture of something they must put their face in it. At first I thought it was stupid, now I realized that it’s true.

I’m using non-wifi internet so I’m not going to take pictures with my phone also I’m lazy so I’m using the webcam, thus my face is in it?

I finally received my copy of 1Q84. My least favorite cover, to be honest perhaps I should have waited for the paperback edition cause I really hate the cover. I was hoping that once I stripped paper thing on the outside I’d get a legit, hardcover with very minimal designs and all that awesome Victorian style stuff. But nope…. nope…

I didn’t plan on buying it but I needed to spend $25 so I get free shipping on Amazon, I hate to pay for shipping so I ended up buying it. hahaha, oh wells, I need a copy to write something for a school thing anyway. Might as well….

I’ve read part of volume 1, and it feels like one giant Murakami compilation of everything that he’s done. Have I read everything that he’s done? Nope, but I read a lot of it. By the way guys… I also write this blog called DARK// and I talk about all the books that I read and some other..things that a pseudo intellectual like myself would talk about.

I also got this book… If on a winter’s night a Traveler by Italo Calvino

look at this bad boy, it came in bubble wrap!!!! I think this is the first time that I got a book in bubble wrap.

It has this amazingly beautiful red color, it’s so beautiful. It’s from a collection called Everyman’s Library, I love their books. It comes with a piece of string so screw your bus pass or post-it bookmarks….

I also have a copy from the library and I ended up buying it because of what I read very early on….in this book.

It’s not that you expect anything in particular from this particular book. You’re the sort of person who, on principle, no longer expects anything of anything. There are plenty, younger than you or less young, who live in the expectation of extraordinary experiences: from books, from people, from journeys, from events, from what tomorrow has in store. But not you. You know that the best you can expect is to avoid the worst. This is the conclusion you have reached, in your personal life and also in general matters, even international affairs. What about books? Well, precisely because you have denied it in every other field, you believe you may still grant yourself legitimately this youthful pleasure of expectation in a carefully circumscribed area like the field of books, where you can be lucky or unlucky, but the risk of disappoint isn’t serious.

Perhaps because I am completely unemployed and I realized that as I spend money I don’t get more….!? Even though I earned very little money before I still had a relatively stable income. It was small but I was always able to put away money but I just realized that I have…a very low number in my account. And hey, I’m not gonna get anymore.

So I’m gonna sit here and wait to get that job selling books, I mean, gifts and scented candles and what not. They haven’t called, dammit.

I totally thought I got it. Even though they didn’t even ask what books I was reading at the moment or what books I enjoyed.

It’s a book store, people gotta be..reading right?

Wow, loving the book selection – I’ve heard great things about Murakami – but I’ve never bought any of his books – because I’m a horrible person – I should do something to amend that. Any recommendations on a place to start?

Hope you hear something back about that book store gig -
I’m sure you will make a super book seller, person, thing.

yes, please read my other blog for much much more book selection
the first murakami book that i came across was After Dark, one of the rarer first person female centric novels.

it’s very short and easy to get through, as most of his books are, and are known for.

after that, i really like east of the border, south of the sun. that one is probably my favorite but i don’t know why.

Norwegian wood, Kafka on the Shore, wind-up bird chronicle and the current 1Q84 are considered his masterpieces…

but sometimes I don’t quite get it. but anyways, i think After Dark is a good one to start, it’s also one of the less surreal ones, or at least you sorta get why or what happened

I’ve never read a Haruki Murakami work (I know!), but I planned on 1Q84 being my first. And $25 to get free shipping? No super saver 5-7 free shipping option? :(

I’ve heard a lot of things about Murakami. I have a feeling I have read something of his but I can’t remember.

It’s been a long time since I’ve sat down and read properly. The last thing I read was “The Little Prince” a thin novel by a Frenchman recommended and lent to me by my Austrian friend here.
Maybe when I go back to Australia I’ll try to start reading again?

We read a lot of Italo Calvino in architecture….because he is very descriptive…or whatever. LOL. I’m so sick of architecture so my brain automatically rejects anything that reminds me of it. But he is really good!
Also…i never thought of it, but i do include my face too……i don’t get why…but ILL STILL DO IT!!! MEMEMEME.

I picked up Italo Calvino and I plan on reading it but not before I finish Pnin.

I have such a love hate relationship with 1q84, I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s when he writes something that strikes so close to home I begin to hate it a little. Plus I can’t wait to read the third volume so I can have some freaking closure.

PS I got the wataya reference -sniff- sad life of a nerd.
